Our History
In 1989, Mike began helping his grandfather, who was a grape grower, and his dad, who grew squash and tomatoes. He soon started making same-day deliveries to small grocery stores and local restaurants. His most frequent customers were local taquerias, but Di Cicco’s was also an early client (and still is today)! Once he had a route developed, Mike’s new business steadily continued to grow, eventually becoming First Quality Produce.
2000
First Quality Produce was officially born and branded.
2005
Mike expanded production to a facility in Downtown Fresno near Fulton Street.
2006
The plant became certified in Food Safety.
2006
Mike landed his first casino client, significantly expanding his client base.
2007
Mike began processing and selling snack packs to school districts.
2014-2015
Mike acquired Amber Foods, creators of the Fruit Luau Buckets, a small couple-owned business who made one-gallon tubs of extended-shelf-life fruit salad.
2015
Mike and the First Quality Produce team moved into our current facility.
2017
Snack Buddies were born—a fun way to dress up the school snack packs.
