Market Update – May 2021

Stone Fruit season has officially begun.
Southern California began harvest at the
end of April and has been steady since.
The Central Valley is set to begin
harvesting peaches and nectarines this
week with supply looking higher than last

First Quality Produce enjoyed the busyness April brought. With the county slowly opening back up we are expecting an even busier May. If you are interested in receiving a custom sample, a price sheet, or a full product list please reach out to our sales team for more information.

Top Five Alerts

01. Carrots

Supplies are short for jumbo carrots. Supplies are decreasing due to in-person schooling starting up. Expect availability and sizing to improve by June.

02. Limes

Limes continue to remain on high alert since April. Demand and cost have increased due to Cinco de Mayo and the rain has prevented some harvesting.

03. Strawberries

Demand has continued to increase while supplies remain limited. Expect improvement by late May.

04. Cauliflower

California’s cooler than normal weather has decreased yield. No impact on quality.

05. Yellow Bells

Production to begin mid-May in California, with Florida markets strong but short in supply.
